Welcome to Season Seven of Live from the Grand Teton Music Festival, GTMF’s radio broadcast series, co-hosted by Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles and Jeff Counts, who also serves as General Manager of the Festival.

This year’s series provides a sampling of the first-ever commercial recording project for the festival, The Complete Beethoven Piano Concertos with Garrick Ohlsson and conductor Donald Runnicles. These incredible performances were recorded in stereo and surround sound in the wonderful acoustics of Walk Festival Hall for Reference Recordings. The radio series presents Concerto No. 1 from this set.
Also, the series presents Act 1 from its production of Madama Butterfly, with Ana María Martinez and Christopher Oglesby in the title roles. In addition, Kelley O’Connor sings the world premiere of The Clustered Vine: Songs of Love, Loss and Remembrance by Kareem Roustom.
There are performances that are not to be missed. Marc-André Hamelin gives us a remarkable performance of Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand. James Ehnes joins Donald Runnicles and the Festival Orchestra for a sublime Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1. Yefim Bronfman joins the Festival for an epic Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1. And Sue Heineman brings her beautiful bassoon sound to the rarely heard Concerto for Bassoon by Mozart.
Finally, Donald Runnicles conducts sublime performances of the Shostakovich Fifth Symphony, the Mendelssohn “Scottish” Symphony and Richard Strauss’ masterpiece, Ein Heldenleben.
