Festival Orchestra: Augustin Hadelich Plays Prokofiev, presented by Bessemer Trust

Friday, July 22, 2022 — 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Sir Donald Runnicles, conductor
Augustin Hadelich, violin

Glinka: Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture
Prokofiev: Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 10 in E minor

Glinka’s breathless five-minute whirlwind of strife and heroism is followed by a pair of contrasting 20th-century masterpieces. Audience-favorite Augustin Hadelich returns to Jackson Hole to perform Prokofiev’s second violin concerto, the last commission of his Paris years. The concert culminates with Shostakovich’s brooding yet cautiously hopeful Symphony No. 10.

“The essence of Hadelich’s playing is beauty: reveling in the myriad ways of making a phrase come alive on the violin, delivering the musical message with no technical impediments whatsoever, and thereby revealing something from a plane beyond ours.” ~Washington Post

Tickets $35/$75; Children/Students $5
