Festival Orchestra: Mozart & Shostakovich

Saturday, July 8, 2023 — 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Sir Donald Runnicles, conductor
Sue Heineman, bassoon

Mozart: Symphony No. 25
Mozart: Bassoon Concerto
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5

Hear “a Soviet artist’s reply to just criticism” and decide for yourself if Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 is a work of genuine, patriotic contrition or a sarcastic critique of Stalin’s rule. Two compositions by Mozart round out the program, including the bassoon concerto, a thrilling tour-de-force for GTMF’s own Sue Heineman.

Tickets $40/$75; Children & Students $5
