Saturday, July 16, 2022 — 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Markus Stenz, conductor
St. Lawrence String Quartet
Geoff Nuttall, violin
Owen Dalby, violin

Christopher Costanza, cello
Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3
John Adams: Absolute Jest
Stravinsky: Petrushka (1947)
Beethoven’s 250th birthday celebration may have been postponed by the pandemic, but GTMF will re-light the candles with the composer’s fascinating opera in miniature and a tribute work by one of America’s most important and prolific voices. Stravinsky’s daring musical love triangle completes this program of high drama and scathing wit.
“(St. Lawrence String Quartet’s) irreverent, spontaneous approach to the classics, as well as their devotion to new music, has made them a model for what the modern-day string quartet should be.” ~CBC
