JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING
Winner of the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, Denis Kozhukhin joins Festival Musicians for Rachmaninoff’s Piano Trio in G minor tonight at 8PM. The 31 year-old pianist combines the brilliance and power of his playing with a masterful sense of form and sensitivity. Festival Musicians follow Rachmaninoff with a pillar of the chamber music repertoire—Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat major.
Mr. Kozhukhin performs one of the all-time most popular and romantic works for piano and orchestra: Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor on Friday, August 4 at 8PM and Saturday, August 5 at 6PM. Maestro Fabien Gabel, Music Director of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, makes his GTMF debut leading the Festival Orchestra in Brahms’ pastoral Second Symphony.
Also on Saturday, August 5 at 11AM, Festival Musicians Carole Bean and Anne Preucil Lewellen lead this week’s free family concert. Listen and learn as they perform an informal flute and harp concert for music-lovers of all ages at the Teton County Library in Jackson. This family fun is free, but ticketed.
