Initially playing with numerous chamber orchestras\, including The Brandenburg Ensemble\, Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia and the European-based New American Chamber Orchestra\, she began her orchestral career as the Principal Violist of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra before coming to Seattle. \nHailed by the Seattle Post Intelligencer for her “uncommon warmth and beauty of timbre\,” Gulkis Assadi often appeared as soloist with the Seattle Symphony. In 1998\, she helped inaugurate Seattle’s Benaroya Hall with Yo-Yo Ma in the Orchestra’s performance of Strauss’ Don Quixote. David Stock wrote his Viola Concerto for Gulkis Assadi and the Seattle Symphony\, which was released spring 2004 on Innova Records to critical acclaim. In June 2006\, Gulkis Assadi played the west coast premiere of Paul Schoenfield’s Viola Concerto. Most recent solo performances include Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto (for viola)\, Dittersdorf’s Sinfonia Concertante for Viola and Double Bass\, Berlioz’s Harold in Italy and Flos Campi by Vaughan Williams. \nGulkis Assadi also performs regularly with the Seattle-based Music of Remembrance and The Governor’s Chamber Music Series. She has happily spent the last twenty-nine summers performing with the Grand Teton Music Festival. She has coached and given master classes at the Seattle Chamber Music Society Academy for Chamber Music\, University of Washington\, the New World Symphony in Miami\, Florida and the National Orchestral Institute in College Park\, Maryland. \n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n David Coucheron\n \n\n Violin \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n David Coucheron \n\n Violin\n \n \n\n\n David Coucheron joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as Concertmaster in September 2010. At the time\, he was the youngest concertmaster among any major U.S. orchestra. He has performed as a soloist with such renowned orchestras as the BBC Symphony Orchestra\, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra. \nCoucheron has performed recitals and chamber music concerts at Carnegie Hall\, Wigmore Hall\, Kennedy Center and Suntory Hall\, as well as locations throughout North America\, Asia\, South America and Europe. Coucheron serves as the Artistic Director for the Kon Tiki Chamber Music Festival in his hometown of Oslo\, Norway. Born in Tallinn\, he began studying cello and piano at the age of six and continued his training in Finland after his family relocated in 1990. At twelve\, he was admitted to the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki\, where he studied with Hannu Kiiski and Arto Noras. He later pursued advanced studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Razumovsky Academy with Oleg Kogan. \nAinomäe is a prizewinner of several major international competitions\, including the Isang Yun\, Lutosławski and Paulo competitions. He has performed in more than 30 countries\, appearing as soloist with orchestras such as the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra\, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra\, Zürich Chamber Orchestra\, Polish Radio Orchestra\, Tapiola Sinfonietta\, Colorado Symphony and the Minnesota Orchestra. In 2023\, she won the Opus Klassik Award in the category “Chamber Music Recording of the Year” for her debut album\, Songbird\, on Warner Classics. \nThe young violinist’s innovative programming is reflected in her album Songbird.
