After Verdi’s dramatic statement on the power of fate and Bloch’s poetic invocation of King Solomon performed by German-French cellist Nicolas Alstaedt, we traverse the turbulent emotional landscape of Tchaikovsky’s final symphony. Did he foresee his own abrupt demise with this score?
