GTMF gets ‘On the Road’ with brass quintet — Jackson Hole Daily

Friday’s orchestral “Patriotic Pops” concert will be preceded by the first of more than a half dozen free “On the Road” events performed by GTMF orchestra members.
The “American Brass Celebration,” hosted by Meaghan Heinrich, the festival’s curator of education, will start at 5 p.m. with a brass quintet presenting “Summon the Heroes,” written by John Williams for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia; the early 20th-century jazz composition “Livery Stable Blues”; “De Colores,” a traditional Spanish-language folksong; and a handful of American favorites.
After, the Jackson Hole Community Band will open the cages on an “instrument petting zoo,” where the young and curious can see and touch and even play a wide range of instruments up close.
Other “On the Road” recitals planned this summer will take place at the Murie Ranch in Grand Teton National Park, History Jackson Hole on East Broadway, the Teton Raptor Center outside of Wilson, over Teton Pass in Victor, Idaho, and elsewhere.
