Get to know your Festival Orchestra! Our musicians do amazing things on and off stage.

When Holly Mulcahy, a 22-year member of the GTMF violin section, isn't in Jackson, she serves as the Concertmaster of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and the Founder and Executive Director of Arts Capacity, a nonprofit that provides access to the healing power of music in the prison system.

"Arts Capacity was founded to harness the transformative power of music to inspire emotional growth, foster connection, and equip incarcerated individuals with tools for personal transformation. My 'why' stems from a belief that music transcends barriers, offering moments of hope, empathy, and healing in spaces often marked by isolation and stigma.

I am also deeply committed to proving music’s impact in measurable ways. Through data collection and participant feedback, we demonstrate how interactive concerts and collaborative programs foster emotional intelligence, pro-social behavior, and personal growth. These metrics guide our work and validate music’s role as a tool for change.

Essentially, our programs provide skills that support residents as they transition back to the free world. By promoting self-reflection, emotional awareness, and creative expression, music helps individuals rebuild trust and prepare for successful reintegration into their communities. This work is not just about performance—it’s about empowering individuals to create meaningful change in their lives and futures." – Holly Mulcahy

Several GTMF musicians have joined Holly in the prisons, and some have served on the board – Mary Corbett, Barbara Scowcroft, Craig Mulcahy, Julie Coucheron, and Charae Krueger, to name a few.
