Be Inspired by Season 63
June 27-August 17, 2024

Join us for our 63rd season with eight weeks of performances under the leadership of Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles!

Festival favorite violinist Augustin Hadelich kicks off the Festival Orchestra series at Walk Festival Hall with Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. Other highlights include world premieres by composers Detlev Glanert and Adam Schoenberg, pianist Michelle Cann playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Third Coast Percussion performing Clarice Assad’s PLAY! (a GTMF co-commission), Jennifer Koh playing Missy Mazzoli’s Violin Concerto, Cliburn Piano Competition Silver Medalist Anna Geniushene performing Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, and the US premiere of Melody Eötvös’ Pyramidion.

Dalia Stasevska returns as a guest conductor; David Danzmayr and Juraj Valčuha make their festival debuts. The Festival Orchestra series culminates in a semi-staged production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, featuring world-class opera soloists and the GTMF Chorus.

Special events include a recital by pianist Garrick Ohlsson and an evening with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma in celebration of the 50th anniversary of our beloved home, Walk Festival Hall.

Join us for two outdoor events at Center for the Arts Park: Jayne and Al Hilde, Jr. Patriotic Pops and a free Family Concert. The Gateway Series returns with four diverse artists and ensembles: Brazilian musicians and father/daughter duo Sérgio and Clarice Assad, singer/pianist Tony DeSare, Counterpoint (pianist/composer Conrad Tao and choreographer/dancer Caleb Teicher), and “the king and queen of the banjo” (Paste Magazine) Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn. In addition, our Festival Orchestra musicians are featured in an eclectic five-concert Chamber Music Series.
