Tix on sale for all GTMF ’26 events – JH News& Guide
Venues are booked, programs are set and tickets are on sale for the Grand Teton Music Festival’s 65th annual season.
Jackson Hole’s summertime orchestra gathers July 2 through Aug. 15 for its 20th season under the baton of Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles, with seven weekends of symphonic works, five nights of chamber music, four intimate house concerts, three genre-blending “Gateway” events and scores of free musical gatherings.
Individual tickets went on sale April 7, when GTMF also released details of its varied chamber music offerings.
The Benoliel Chamber Music Series, named after a longtime booster, runs Thursdays from July 9 to Aug. 13. Members of the Festival Orchestra pitch pieces they’d like to perform with their colleagues, and keyboardist and chamber music coordinator Adelle Eslinger Runnicles boils the lot down to five programs, sometimes featuring that weekend’s guest soloist.
For example, pianist Tanner Jorden, the first-place finalist in the 2021 Donald Runnicles Musical Arts Scholarship competition, will join in on Beethoven’s Trio in E-flat Major, No. 2, as part of the July 9 program ahead of his performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the full orchestra the following Friday and Sunday.
And guest violinist Maria Ioudenitch, in town for July 31 and Aug. 1 performances of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, will perform in the “Fairy Tale” program, with selections from Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” contemporary Canadian composer Kevin Lau’s 2018 take on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Nightingale,” and the world premiere of Festival clarinetist José González Granero’s “Hojoki.”
The July 16 program also includes Lau’s 2019 trio “A Simple Secret” as part of a varied set based on folk and literary influences. His 2022 trio for trumpet, trombone and piano, “and from the heart there flows a song,” and his 2025 String Quartet No. 7, “Surfacing,” will be bracketed by a Mozart string duo and Beethoven string quartet on Aug. 6.
